I personally use the word “Yet”. Carol Dweck speaks about it, there are songs referring to it, and even been featured on Sesame Street. When you tack “yet” onto the end of any negative self-talk or even feedback, it turns something deflating into almost a goal. That’s just one way though. How else do you remain optimistic?
It’s also very useful to seek feedback from a variety of trusted sources. While not always what you want to hear, honest, trusted feedback can ensure you remain realistic, as well as optimistic.
