Friday Reflections 2702

Happy Friday everyone. Here’s something to reflect on over the weekend perhaps…

Today’s read is about 7-9 minutes. Post-read pondering not included. A non-academic, slice-of-life perspective this week. I was immediately reminded of the character Gerald in the 1997 movie The Full Monty, how, when he lost his job, he was lost everywhere. Most of us have seen or heard of a similar story; a person retires, and very soon after, they pass away or slip into mental illness. I think this article, from a woman’s perspective, makes it powerful too. It is a personal reflection, with good advice at the end. My key Illumination is the need for diverse interests and identities. A good thing to reflect on for the long weekend.

Psychology says the most miserable retirees aren’t the ones who did nothing with their careers. They’re the ones who did everything, because their identity was so fused with productivity that rest feels like a form of death

Last week’s riddle question and answer; What has a head, no body, and scratches its head to perform an important function? A match

This week’s riddle is;  What has a ring but no finger, and makes a sound when its moved?

Did you know? Should you ever want to look back on old versions of these, you can find them here https://www.illuminategroup.com.au/blog

Time for a moment to reflect, I think.
